Three Zen 3-based Ryzen leaked, including a 16-core model with 4.6GHz boost

The Zen 3-based Ryzen processors will arrive later this year, and according to a new leak, AMD is already testing at least three models, of which their specifications have been leaked.

As Igor’s Lab revealed, AMD is testing the following engineering samples codenamed “Vermeer”:

Name: Vermeer (VMR)
Family: 19h
Models: 20h-2Fh
CPUID: 0xa20f00

OPN 1: 100-000000063-07_46 / 40_N
OPN 2: 100-000000063-08_46 / 40_Y
OPN 3: 100-000000063-23_44 / 38_N
Revision: A0
Cores: 8
Threads: 16

OPN 1: 100-000000059-14_46 / 37_Y
OPN 2: 100-000000059-15_46 / 37_N
Revision: A0
Cores: 16
Threads: 32

From their OPNs we can obtain information such as their frequencies, observing that the lower model with 8 cores and 16 threads will have a base frequency of 3800MHz and boost at 4400MHz, while the upper model will have a base frequency of 4000MHz and boost at 4600MHz. Regarding the 16-core and 32-wire model, it will have a base frequency of 3700MHz and boost to 4600MHz.

For comparison, the Zen 2-based 16-core 32-core Ryzen 9 3950X has a base frequency of 3500MHz and boost to 4.7GHz. Although the boost seems lower, at least in this engineering sample, its higher base frequency indicates that they will be able to sustain higher frequencies in all their cores, increasing performance. In addition, thanks to the IPC increase of up to 20%, even with a lower boost frequency, this new processor will far exceed the Ryzen 9 3950X in single-core.

It will be interesting to see the frequencies of the final models, since sometimes the engineering samples work with lower frequencies to ensure stability and prove that everything works well, and after the correct operation has been verified, the final frequencies are defined. Even if these are the final frequencies, they look quite interesting and will undoubtedly be excellent competitors in the market.

The Zen 3-based Ryzen 4000 is expected to arrive in September, so there's a bit of a wait to officially meet them.

Are you eager to see Zen 3 based processors? What do you think of these leaked specifications?
