If you ask me for my favorite third-party gallery app for Android, it’s Simple Gallery. The name is slightly misleading when you think about its features, but true to the name when it comes to the user-friendly nature. The app is bundled with all the features you would expect from a good photo app. And one of them is the ability to hide photos and videos.

You can hide the entire folder or just the selected files. To hide any file or folder, tap the three-dot icon at the top and select Hide from the menu.

Interestingly, you can temporarily view hidden files by tapping the three-dot icon on the app’s main screen. Then choose Show temporarily hidden. Alternatively, go to Settings and enable Show Hidden Files. To show the files or folder, temporarily show the hidden files and then tap the three-dot icon. Select Discover from the menu.

You can even protect or hide your files with a password. If that’s not enough, you can password protect the entire application. Both of these features are available in the app’s Settings.

Another interesting gallery app is the 1Gallery app. It offers a separate folder known as the Secure folder for hiding photos and videos. You need to add your files to that folder. The folder can be protected with a fingerprint, code or pattern. The app prides itself on encrypting hidden files.

To add a photo to the Protected album, open the file in the app and tap the three-dot icon. Select Move to Protect from the menu. Go to app settings to manage password and secure folder mode.

Other features of the app include a built-in photo editor, a video trimmer , playing videos with subtitles and themes. The app offers various sorting and layout modes. You can even view the videos separately and search for large files using this app.

3. A+ Gallery

Similar to the 1Gallery app, the A + Gallery app offers a secure Vault folder. You can hide and protect photos, videos or the folder using a password. You can even back up files added to the Secure folder to the cloud.

To add photos to Secure Vault, open the photo and press the three-dot icon. Select Move to Safe Safe. Alternatively, open Secure vault and tap the Add (+) icon at the top. Select the photos you want to add to the list.

To hide photos in this app, tap and hold the photo in the thumbnail view and tap the three-dot icon. Select Move to Media Vault from the menu. You can secure it using a pin, pattern and fingerprint. You can access the vault from the left sidebar.

APP BONUS: Google Photo

Chances are your phone already has the Google Photos app. So you don’t need to install any third party apps to hide photos. You can hide photos using the Google Photos storage feature.
