Twice as expensive as the Steam Deck and three times as expensive as the OLED Switch - this is the ONEXPLAYER Mini handheld

What is happening on the handheld market may seem like a joke at times. At least if we blindly look at the specifications and not the capabilities and unique features behind the models. This time the ONEXPLAYER Mini handheld was released, indicating, along with the recent AyaNeo Next debut, that Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck are really cheap devices. The ONEXPLAYER Mini does, however, have some unique features.

The ONEXPLAYER Mini handheld has made its debut and … it does not impress, but simply terrifies with its price

Let’s start with the fact that ONEXPLAYER Mini costs 1259, 1399 and 1599 $ (5000-6400 PLN) at the retail price, depending on the version, which differ only in mass memory (512 vs 1024 vs 2048 GB). Regardless of the version, the handheld is based on Windows 11 and despite its note “Mini”, it measures a lot, because 26 x 10.6 x 2.3 cm, which is larger than the Switch, but smaller than the Steam Deck. Such a large case weighs 589 grams and is home to 10455mAh batteries, chips for Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0 and two USB 4.0 ports. This is impressive, as is the 7-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels.

What is not impressive is the hardware itself that combines 16 GB of LPDDR4X-4266 memory with the previous generation processor in the form of a 4-core and 8-thread Intel Tiger Lake Core i7-1195G7, which offers the Xe-LP iGPU with 96 EU clock speed 1.4 GHz at an unknown TDP level (can be 12 to 28 watts). The only salvation for this console in terms of graphics performance is the ability to connect an external graphics card, because compared to the iGPU Radeon Vega 8, it simply fares poorly, and its Full HD screen only makes it worse. Numerous comparisons from the past confirm this:

It is also difficult to determine for whom the company created the ONEXPLAYER Mini handheld, although it suggests making it a kind of portable work / entertainment station, thanks to the presence of HDMI or 100-watt charging.
