US Treasury Department Includes Three Cryptocurrency Addresses of Chinese Citizens in “Sanctions List”

The US Treasury Department of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has listed cryptocurrency wallets for three Chinese drug dealers on the sanctions list.

The “sanctions list” includes the wallets of Xiaobing Yan, Fujing Zheng, and Guanghua Zheng, which used cryptocurrencies to launder the proceeds from the sale of drugs. After that, the criminals withdrew money to banks in China and Hong Kong. Sigal Mandelker, Deputy Minister of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, said:

“Chinese criminals named OFAC are involved in international drug trafficking and the sale of deadly drugs, which has contributed to the crisis of drug addiction and overdose deaths in the United States. Zheng and Yan transported hundreds of synthetic opioid packets to the United States. Commercial postal services were used to smuggle drugs. ”

Note that, for the second time, OFAC adds cryptocurrency addresses to its “sanctions list”. This was first done at the end of November 2018, when the cryptocurrency addresses of Iranians Ali Khorashadizadeh and Mohammad Ghorbaniyan were added to the list.
