Video cards, less stocks and rising prices: the end of the year with dramatic conditions

We enter the last quarter of the year, usually a period in which many concentrate their purchases, also with regard to technology and more particularly the Video Card. Unfortunately, according to the usual analysis of 3DCenter.org on the trend of prices in the German market at a large number of online shops, things are getting worse again with decreasing availability and rising prices.

Of course, if on the one hand the situation has never been ideal for the whole year and even before, between July and August we were deluded to see some timid rays of sunshine, however, quickly covered by dense black clouds as already emerged in the previous analysis a few weeks ago. The price of the latest generation video cards, GeForce RTX 3000 and Radeon RX 6000, is back up a growth trend.

Regarding the offer of AMD, the price went from + 153% in July to the current one + 174% on the list price (MSRP) of the cards indicated as the basis of 100%. Per NVIDIA we see instead that from 150% in August it has passed to the current one +170%. As can be seen from the dotted line, availability is decreasing, in a symbiotic relationship between stocks and price lists.

Among the cards that in the last two weeks or so have registered the greatest increase we find the Radeon RX 6600 XT and the Radeon RX 6800 XT at AMD, while on the NVIDIA front the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti and the GeForce RTX 3090 are the most “affected. “.

In the table above you see the price scissors for some models from AMD and NVIDIA, from the lowest to the highest price over the various weeks, with solutions such as the RTX 3090 sold for 2469-3632 euros, well beyond the price list of around 1549 euros. Even the RX 6700 XT, presented at 479 euros, is sold at price lists not even remotely close to the MSRP: around 829-1159 euros.
