Volvo CE, a branch of the company dealing with, inter alia, heavy construction machinery, provided us with an insight into the R&D process of the electric construction vehicle prototype. The most interesting thing is that this one is inspired by the Volvo LX03, which until now functioned as a Lego Technic set.
Volvo LX03 from Lego Technic
The Volvo LX03 is therefore the first equipment of this type that not so much gave life to the Lego set, but was created on its basis. We already saw this construction machine in the form of a concept in 2018, but now Volvo has shown us its current state and the actual model. When turning a LEGO set into a real work tool, the Volvo does not differ from the original, which means that there are a lot of similarities.

The prototype Volvo LX03 electric construction vehicle has the same driveline as the L25 Electric, the electric vehicle from Volvo. Volvo has, however, introduced more automated features to the LX03, completely apparently abandoning the need for an operator in a cab that this machine simply does not have. It is able to work for a maximum of eight hours on a single charge, depending on the load.

It’s worth it though to underlinethat at the moment the Volvo LX03 is not available on the market and the company has no plans to introduce it to the offer at the moment. However, he hopes to learn from this process and apply the same unique process to future projects – hence the lack of details on the Volvo LX03 specifications.
