E Ink has just announced the market premiere of E Ink Gallery 3, a new generation of colored electronic paper intended for the consumer markets of readers. This technology is based on the E Ink ACeP Advanced Color ePaper platform, where the full range of colors is achieved through a system of four ink particles: cyan, magenta, yellow and white.

What has been improved in Gallery 3? In fact, everything if we compare this technology to the previous one. Black and white update time has been improved to 350 milliseconds, fast color mode is 500 ms, standard 750-1000 ms and the “best” by quality at 1500 ms. This is a huge leap compared to, for example, the first generation of E Ink Gallery, where the black and white update time was two seconds, and in the case of color updates – ten seconds.

In addition, readers using E Ink Gallery 3 will have an improved resolution of 300 pixels per inch compared to the previous 150 ppi and an operating temperature of 0-50 degrees Celsius. It will also feature the new ComfortGaze front illumination and will support black and white pen input with the option of adding a few other colors and an update time of 30 ms.
