What news is Valve preparing on Steam in 2019?

Are you curious about what’s new for Valve on Steam in 2019? If so, you’ve come to the right place because the company has just released its plans.

Everything is included in a really comprehensive summary, which not only brings us (users) closer to the company, but is also valuable for the company itself, because “[…] in this way we are more aware of what we have achieved and in what direction we should develop ”. Three of the announced novelties stand out.

By far the most interesting technology is Steam Trust, which currently powers CS: GO and may prove to be a rescue for the bane of multiplayer team games, i.e. matchmaking. Valve not only wants to refine the way the algorithm evaluates the “level of trust” of a given player, but also make it available to other developers.

The other two novelties, although not quite as community-driven, are “Steam Library Update” and “Popularization of Games in the Store”. While the former goal will bring a new graphic design and features to our game collection, the latter will focus on growing it even faster by giving us titles based on our preferences using machine learning algorithms. In addition, the company wants to implement the following plans:

  • New event system: We will update the Steam Community Events System so that you can highlight exciting events in your games, for example: tournaments, broadcasts or weekly challenges.
  • Steam.tv: we plan to develop http://steam.tv/ and not only broadcast some broadcasts and special events, but support all games.
  • Steam chat: We are going to release the new Steam Chat mobile app to let you share your favorite GIFs with friends while you are on the go.
  • Steam Internet Café program: We are going to officially launch a new Internet Café program so gamers can enjoy Steam in hundreds of thousands of Internet Cafés around the world.
