Why is snow on Tesla solar tiles not a problem?

In Europe, we cannot yet count on access to Tesla’s solar roof tiles, although we were looking forward to it in 2021. Plans, as is usually the case with Elon Musk’s companies, have not been translated into reality according to the schedule provided, but we know that when this moment comes, even in our climate, we should not have problems with them. Snow on Tesla’s solar tiles is not a problem at all.

Snow on Tesla solar tiles is not a problem – white fluff can fall off quickly

Solar panels and roof tiles generate energy even in very cloudy weather, because solar radiation reaches them even through thick clouds. The problem appears when something obscures them and one of these “cosies” may be snow, which, due to its white color, additionally reflects the sun’s rays. Fortunately, Tesla’s solar roof tiles, like traditional panels, generate heat, and this can help to automatically clear snow from roofs.

It all boils down to the fact that the snow melts directly next to the tiles, creating a layer of water between them and the remaining white fluff. Gravity adds to this equation and, voila, a snowy roof sheds all the snow after a few / several hours, unblocking the original operation of the panels. Tesla, after leaving its native Texas market, often mentions this property, and it did so several hours ago on its official account on Twitter. In action, this works as follows:
