WSJ: Samsung launches KlaytnPhone blockchain smartphone

Samsung launches KlaytnPhone blockchain smartphone

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports that South Korean technology giant Samsung is launching its new KlaytnPhone blockchain smartphone with a built-in cryptocurrency wallet.

Sources familiar with the situation report that KlaytnPhone will be a variation of the recently released flagship Samsung Galaxy Note 10, which will support a cryptocurrency wallet and blockchain applications. Sales should start in South Korea today.

Note that the smartphone received the name KlaytnPhone in honor of the Klaytn blockchain platform, which was developed by a subsidiary of the South Korean giant Kakao GroundX. It is also reported that the Klaytn logo will appear when the device is turned on and off.

It is expected that the new gadget will cost about $ 1,000. At the same time, buyers will receive a certain amount of their own Kakao-Klay tokens. The appearance of such a smartphone should spur the adoption of cryptocurrencies among Samsung users, WSJ sources noted.

In addition, it was recently announced that Samsung will present its new developments related to the blockchain at the SDC Developer 2019 conference, which will be held in San Jose, California in October this year.
