You can print the firearms in a 3D printer

Firearms activists came to an agreement with the government that allowed them to publish 3D weapons plans. After five years of fierce discussions and legal gibberish, Cody Wilson, the creator of “The Liberator” from the US, got his way.

The Liberator is nothing more than a single-shot weapon printed in a 3D printer. It is entirely made of plastic similar to that of Lego blocks, and although it is fully functional in this form, it requires additional metal elements to meet the requirements for detected firearms, e.g. at airports. However, making it all of ABS plastic is a matter of several modifications.

Its plans for use in 3D printers (now officially) will be available for download in early August. This was approved by the US government, which even decided to pay Wilson for legal fees and associated registration fees. You wonder why the government allowed such a thing at all? First of all, the plans are already circulating on the web because they were (yet) published illegally in 2013. Secondly – their re-publication is a matter of a few clicks and thirdly … the government did not want to go to court.

So on August 1, on the official website of Codi Wilson, there will be plans for the Liberator, the Beretta M9, and even other weapons that can be shared by users. So it seems that “ghost weapons”, which cannot be tracked due to lack of serial numbers, will soon be able to be printed without any problems by anyone. Anyone who has access to a 3D printer, which is still associated with considerable costs. These, however, are nothing great for criminal groups and terrorists.
