With all the price growth of Bitcoin in recent weeks, there is good news for the ambitious.
According to BlockWorks Group analyst Jake Levison, you only need 0.28 BTC to be in the top 1% of the world’s richest (in BTC terms).
Bitcoinist recently reported that only 2% of all addresses have 1 Bitcoin or more.
Of course, many people own more than 1 Bitcoin distributed on various wallets. However, the actual number of people who own a whole bitcoin is actually quite small, somewhere between 500,000 and 1 million.
You only need 0.28 BTC to be one of the richest in the world
However, there is no need to despair if you have not been able to purchase (or maintain) a complete Bitcoin. Jake Levison says all you need is 0.28 BTC:
“If you own 0.28 BTC, you are statistically guaranteed to be in the richest 1% of the world in BTC terms.”
His scenario is based on a graph published by Parker Lewis of Unchained Capital called Bitcoin Obsoletes All Money. By 2030, if the network reaches one billion users, average holdings will reach 0.001 BTC.
Perhaps earlier, in 2030, average holdings are only 0.01 BTC, assuming 1 billion using the network.

Therefore, those who own 0.28 BTC will be among the richest 1% of cryptocurrency users.
Another user, BTCKirs, pointed out that, despite the ambitions to redistribute wealth, Bitcoin will eventually be owned by “whales, institutions and governments.”
“Unpopular opinion: Around 5-10 million people will ever own a complete Bitcoin. Between whales, nations and institutions, there will be no more cryptocurrencies left to walk around. If we consider the lost coins, the value will be even lower. Really, those who get to own a whole Bitcoin will be rare“
