YouTube on Android will get a transcription feature

Some time ago, YouTube in the browser version got the transcription function, now this novelty will also appear in the mobile application on Android devices.

YouTube transcription is very useful, especially for long videos. Thanks to the automatically generated transcription, we can easily find the right fragment or quote with it, along with the exact time in the movie. Until now, this functionality was limited only to the browser version of the website, but some Android devices began to notice it also in the mobile application.

They have a dedicated “Show transcript” button under the description of the video. I also noticed the function in my application, although it is not available in every movie. You can see exactly how it looks in the screenshots below.

The update is probably server-side, so you’ll have to be patient before it hits everyone.
