The capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Abu Dhabi is going to put cadastral service records on the SmartHub blockchain platform.
The Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities, the government agency responsible for the development strategy of Abu Dhabi, has partnered with the Indian IT company Tech Mahindra to implement this initiative, a press release said.
The agency wants to provide Abu Dhabi citizens with a blockchain-based solution called SmartHub that will help keep track of land records and reduce the time it takes to complete real estate transactions.
The blockchain platform will store all proprietary documents issued by municipalities. Records will be tracked through sites deployed in various organizations, according to the statement.
“The introduction of next-generation technologies, such as SmartHub, will help serve a wider segment of citizens by increasing customer satisfaction, quality of life and the availability of our services,” said Ahmad Abdolsamad AlHammadi, IT Director of the Abu Dhabi Municipality . “This will be the start for the launch of many other services that we plan to deploy throughout the year.”
