Activision is committed to releasing at least the next three Call of Duty on PlayStation

After the announcement of the purchase of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft, Sony quickly commented that it hoped that the company comply with the current agreements that PlayStation had with Activision, which ensured that your Call of Duty games landed on your console. Just that same day Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox division, announced that would respect existing agreements, and now rumors indicate that this agreement is limited to the release of the next three Call of Duy.

that includes the Call of Duty that will arrive this year, which is expected to be a new entry in the popular Modern Warfare sub-series being developed by Infinity Ward, and the next game, which is in development at Treyarch, both studios owned by Activision. The deal also includes a planned new iteration of Call of Duty Warzone, the lucrative free-to-play game that launched in 2020.

Traditionally, Call of Duty games have been released on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, with the latter platform generating the most revenue. In recent years, Call of Duty games have been heavily promoted on the PlayStation Store and tied to huge marketing deals. All games in the annual franchise are among the best sellers on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, to the point that Call of Duty games have been the best-selling titles in the United States each of the last three years.

For at least the next two years, Microsoft is committed to launching Call of Duty on PlayStation, the sources revealed, and taking Phil Spencer’s words at face value, where he merely indicated that they would respect existing agreements, everything suggests of what in a Call of Duty released in 2024 would already be exclusive to PC and Xbox users. Of course, the rumors of spacing out the releases of Call of Duty instead of launching a new installment per year do not help either.
