AMD encourages users to 3D-print their own front panel for the Radeon R9 Fury X

One thing that is common to AMD’s latest flagship Radeon R9 Fury X and Nvidia’s GTX Titan models is that partner manufacturers are not allowed to develop their own variants. This goes so far that they are not even allowed to put stickers on the graphics cards to put their own stamp.

AMD has instead chosen to make the graphics card adaptable for end users, who on the company’s official website are encouraged to unscrew the front panel and create their own. For this purpose, AMD has released a 3D model for printing, but those who do not have access to 3D printers can of course use more traditional means.

Any form of modification involves certain risks, which is why AMD also warns against removing the front panel when the graphics card is installed or in an active system. The company also recommends a clean and ESD-protected work surface and that users do not tighten the screws too hard when reassembling.

In conclusion, AMD points out that any damage that occurs in connection with a replacement is not covered by the warranty. The company will also not offer or replace lost or damaged front panels.
