AMD Radeon “Fiji” presented at E3

Eight months ago, Nvidia Geforce launched the GTX 980 and GTX 970, which not only redrawn the map in the enthusiast segment but also deliver hitherto unmatched energy efficiency. Now AMD has woken up and is upgrading with the new Radeon 300 series, which by all accounts consists almost exclusively of renamed graphics cards.

In the top performance, however, there will be something new with the graphics processor Fiji, which will be the first out with the new memory technology High Bandwidth Memory (HBM). During AMD’s Financial Analyst Day, the company’s CEO, Lisa Su, revealed that the graphics processor will see the light of day before the end of the second quarter of the year, ie before the end of June.

Computerbase (German) now reports that a first revelation will take place at Computex Taipei in early June, but whether this only includes the media or whether it will be a more public event is not clear. Previous data point to the former.

After the first unveiling, AMD will present the graphics card at the gaming fair E3, which takes place on 16-18 June. This is reinforced by the fact that AMD, in collaboration with the publication PC Gamer, will hold a PC-oriented event at the event, which in recent years has focused the spotlight on gaming consoles.

The Fiji graphics processor, which is believed to house the Radeon R9 390X and R9 390, is rumored to be equipped with no less than 4,096 stream processors and an ultra-wide memory bus of 4,096 bits, which together with the new HBM memory is said to provide a bandwidth of up to 640 GB / s.
