AMD Radeon RX Vega finds out in the picture

When AMD launched the Polaris architecture, there were no graphics cards in the performance segment, where models such as the Radeon R9 Fury X and R9 Fury from the previous generation had to hold their own. Later in the spring, it is time for the company to use the architecture Vega to give Nvidia resistance again in the higher performance classes.

During the Beijing Technology Summit in China, AMD CEO Lisa Su presented the upcoming Ryzen 5 Series processors. During the same event, a first preview of the Radeon RX Vega was also shown in a video, which apparently was not intended for the public.

Judging from the pictures, the Radeon RX Vega, like the R9 Fury X, has an illuminated Radeon logo on the long side. While the graphics card generally looks black, it has a white cover plate, which on the far right is adorned with AMD’s logo for Vega. Another thing AMD seems to keep from the R9 Fury X is LEDs over the PCI Express connectors. These served as a function to show the degree of load on the graphics circuit and if it went down in its deepest energy saving mode Zerocore.

In terms of specifications, everything points to the Radeon RX Vega receiving 8 GB of HBM2 memory running over a 2,048-bit for a bandwidth of 512 GB / s, which is accompanied by 4,096 stream processors based on the Next-Generation Compute Unit (NCU), which replaces the long-running Graphics Core Next (GCN) which was first introduced with the Radeon HD 7970 in December 2011.

The launch of the Radeon RX Vega will take place later in the second quarter of the year.
