AMD seizes Battlefield 4 – market exclusivity for Radeon

The launch of Battlefield 4 is one of the biggest events of the year in the gaming industry and also something that hardly goes unnoticed in the computer world. Action-packed maps and impressive special effects require a lot of power under the hood, which persuades many desk soldiers to purchase new components.

Battlefield 4 is part of AMD’s development program Gaming Evolved. In practice, this means that AMD is working with the developers at DICE to ensure that the game works particularly well with graphics cards in the Radeon series, especially when it comes to optimized drivers.

However, there is one more point with the agreement. AMD is an “exclusive hardware partner” and thus has all the rights to market computers and components with Battlefield 4, which causes some fuss on the retail side – not least because computer systems with Intel processors are also affected.

Stores may not, for example, build special gaming computers and claim that they are adapted for Battlefield 4, insofar as these are not based exclusively on AMD components. It is also not allowed to “bundle” the game in upgrade packages with Intel processors or market other competing products together with Battlefield 4.

At the same time, there are many indications that AMD itself plans to send Battlefield 4 to selected graphics cards. It has previously been said that the game will be included in the Never Settle campaign, but there may also be other types of offers, not least in connection with the launch of the Radeon 200 series.
