AMD will cease production of the Radeon RX Vega in the reference version

The past year has been successful for AMD, where the company has released both new processors in the form of Ryzen and the new graphics architecture Vega. The latter was launched in connection with the two graphics cards Radeon RX Vega 56 and RX Vega 64, two models that are so far only available in reference version.

Computerbase now reports that AMD is discontinuing production of the Radeon RX Vega 56 and RX Vega 64 of the reference design, with three retailers announcing that they will not receive new copies. The reason is stated to be that AMD should instead focus on getting more models from partner manufacturers, where several have already shown their variants.

It has previously been reported that third-party models would be available in November, but this did not happen. The delay was then stated to have occurred due to poor access to Vega circuits and lack of information from AMD.

It is rumored that models from Asus and Powercolor, among others, will be available during the month of December, but this has not yet been confirmed. Whether AMD will actually stop manufacturing the Radeon RX Vega is currently also unconfirmed and the company has chosen not to comment on the information from Computerbase.
