Asus is working on Ares III with dual graphics processors Hawaii

At the end of 2013, AMD introduced a new series of graphics cards. The Volcanic Islands family consists mostly of older graphics processors in new suits, with the exception of the Hawaii circuit for the performance-oriented 290 series. However, there is no talk of a traditional sequel to the Radeon HD 7990.

This does not prevent Asus from producing its own graphics card with dual graphics processors. According to Chinese VR-Zone, what is hitherto known as Ares III will be presented at the Computex 2014 trade fair in June. As usual, this is a pure worsting model.

Asus’ new graphics card contains two circuits with the Hawaii architecture, either from the Radeon R9 290 (Hawaii Pro) or the R9 290X (Hawaii XT). This is combined with a total of 8 GB of GDDR5 memory, which means 4 GB of video memory per graphics processor (4 GB efficient). Some more details than that are not yet known.

The predecessor Asus Ares II was produced in only 999 copies and cost almost SEK 14,000 at launch in January 2013. It is thus likely that the sequel Ares III will also be an exotic model that is reserved for the most avid performance hunters.
