Asus makes the “world’s fastest” Geforce GTX 980 Ti in gold

This spring, Asus celebrated 20 years as a graphics card maker and drew attention to this with the Geforce GTX 980 20th Anniversary Edition, which at launch was said to be the best-performing incarnation of the GTX 980. When Asus launches a GTX 980 Ti according to the ROG Matrix concept, the component giant takes the opportunity to do a special version and reprise of the anniversary concept.

The model is called Asus Geforce GTX 980 Ti 20th Anniversary Gold Edition and, like the GTX 980 variant, is a gold-colored story in a limited edition. This includes a new version of the DirectCU II radiator, which has grown in height and takes up 2.5 card slots. For the circuit board, a 12 + 2 phase “digital” power supply and a BIOS switch are visible.

The parade number for the card compared to regular ROG Matrix is that the graphics processor is hand-picked and intimidated up to 1,266 and 1,367 MHz at base respective boost – just over 27 percent above Nvidia’s reference frequencies. This will make the model the world’s fastest Geforce GTX 980 Ti. For video memory, 6 GB GDDR5 at 7,200 MHz is found over a 384-bit memory bus.

For other details, the power supply is controlled via two 8-pin connectors and outputs consist of three Displayport 1.2, an HDMI 2.0 and a Dual-Link DVI-I. Finally, Asus also talks about a fan control tailored to the model, which in addition to passive operation at light or no load should keep the noise level down.

The Asus Geforce GTX 980 Ti 20th Anniversary Gold Edition will be available in stores at the end of November at the recommended price of SEK 9,590 – just over SEK 2,000 over the other GTX 980 Ti on the market.
