Bitcoin Cash: judge dismisses complaint accusing Bitmain, Bitcoin.com and Kraken

A US court has just dismissed the complaint filed in December 2018 by UnitedCorp against several supporters of Bitcoin Cash for "manipulating" the cryptocurrency network.

In November 2018, following the Bitcoin Cash hardfork, its blockchain was divided into 2 new distinct chains giving birth to Bitcoin ABC (BABC) – who has since recovered the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) label – and Bitcoin SV (BSV).

UnitedCorp asserted that the defendants, Bitmain, Bitcoin.com, Kraken, Roger Ver, Jihan Wu, Payward Ventures, Jesse Powell, Shammah Chancellor, Jason Cox and Amaury Sechet had taken control of the network Bitcoin Cash by leasing hashing power to drive adoption of the new Bitcoin ABC rule sets.

According to Coindesk, earlier this week, the American judge Chris McAliley of the Southern District Court of Florida dismissed the case. However, the claimant can still file an amended version of their complaint.

UnitedCorp has almost lost the case already, but the judge lets them modify it to see if they can find a better argument, "said Roger Ver, CEO of Bitcoin.com.

For the President of UnitedCorp, Benoit Laliberte, the judge’s ruling shows that the court recognizes "the importance of establishing law in what has been, until now, a rather undefined environment."

Bitcoin was developed as a decentralized and distributed P2P electronic payment system operating according to the democratic principles created within the network. Any decision to centralize or control the network is contrary to its philosophy and foundations, ”he said.

United American Corp now has until February 28 to submit an amended complaint.
