BitPay, a large cryptocurrency payment operator, announced that soon outlets connected to the system will be able to accept payments on the air.
BitPay was launched in 2011 and offers its services in 200 countries. Previously, buyers in stores connected to the operator could pay for purchases in bitcoins and Bitcoin Cash, but soon BitPay will start supporting the second cryptocurrency in terms of capitalization.
“BitPay is a leader in the integration of Ethereum into the global payment system. This really opens up a new world for the Ethereum ecosystem, and together we can continue our course of popularizing the use of cryptocurrencies in the real world, ”said Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum.
BitPay CEO Stephen Pair said the introduction of Ethereum support is a natural step. After all, this is the second cryptocurrency in terms of capitalization, while it has many adherents. However, the company regularly considers the possibility of integrating new coins into its system.
Note that recently, BitPay has often been criticized in connection with its policy and high commissions. Recently, the Hong Kong Nezavisimaya Gazeta accused BitPay of blocking the account, and the founder of the publication urged everyone to refuse the company’s services and choose any other alternatives.
