Blockchain.com integrates BitPay payment system into its wallet

The operator of the largest online wallet, Blockchain.com, announced a partnership with the payment company BitPay.

According to the record
on a blog, Blockchain integrates the BitPay payment architecture into its wallet. This partnership will allow Blockchain.com wallet users to make payments to merchants who use BitPay as a payment processor.

BitPay processes about $ 1 billion in Bitcoin payments for enterprises and individual clients, and more than $ 2.8 billion in other cryptocurrencies for institutional clients. The company has created an ecosystem of merchants that accept cryptocurrencies, including the Twitch service from Amazon, Delta and Hotels.com, and offers the opportunity to settle payments in fiat currencies and invoices.

Blockchain is considered one of the largest wallet providers in the world, with about 38 million users, of which more than half are outside the United States. In addition, Blockchain.com wallet users account for approximately fourth
all intranet BTC transactions.

“This new option will connect users of our wallets with the world of merchants who accept BTC (and soon other cryptocurrencies) as a payment method. This is one of the key ways to interact and develop the ecosystem of digital assets, ”Blockchain said in a statement.

Blockchain’s wallet service offers users an additional KYC check. BitPay also requires its users to comply with KYC requirements, in addition, the company recently tightened
customer identification measures.

Recall that in July of this year, Blockchain.com launched
own exchange. The site is in the process of obtaining licenses in several jurisdictions.
