BEIJING, Sep 7 – PRIME. China reduced its imports of oil and natural gas in annual terms by 4.7% and 10.2%, respectively, in eight months, according to data released on Wednesday by the Main Customs Administration of the People’s Republic of China.
In January-August, China imported 330.17 million tons of oil, in terms of price, the purchase of crude oil from abroad cost $243.145 billion, which is 48.7% more than in the same period of 2021. Separately, in August, China imported 40.354 million tons of oil worth $30.5 billion.
The volume of natural gas imports for eight months amounted to 71.04 million tons in the amount of $42.4 billion (in price terms, an increase of 44.4%). Separately, in August, China imported 8.84 million tons of gas worth $5.94 billion.
In addition, during the reporting period, coal imports amounted to 167.9 million tons (a decrease of 14.9%) for $26.33 billion (in price terms, an increase of 53.1%).
Last year, China imported 512.98 million tons of oil, 121.356 million tons of natural gas and 323.21 million tons of coal.
