The British postal company Royal Mail, after examining the possibilities of drones, presented its vision of creating 50 delivery routes taking into account the use of these unmanned aerial systems in the next few years. Based on this project, it may extend this service across the UK in the future.
Royal Mail cooperates with Windracers, which deals with logistics using drones. As part of this collaboration, the companies conducted four separate trials in the past 18 months. They consisted of flying twin-engine drones capable of carrying up to 100 kg in various remote locations.
Following these successful exercises, Royal Mail announced plans to create 50 permanent drone delivery routes to increase the reliability of mail delivery to the islands. Current methods include ferries, planes, and land vehicles. The company hopes that drones will increase the speed and efficiency of its operations and, together with electric vans, reduce carbon emissions.

At this point, the service has yet to be approved by the UK Civil Aviation Authority, but everything is going according to plan. At the start of the project, up to 200 drones will be serving deliveries to the Isles of Scilly, Shetland, Orkney and the Hebrides.
