A message posted on Twitter by one of the largest gaming companies in North America has attracted the attention of the crypto community. Specifically, Electronics Arts (EA) posted “Invest in Crypto” and the whole community jumped to comment. The message has been reposted more than 5000 times, in what has proven to be a marketing campaign for a new game.

The mention of cryptocurrencies by such a well-known company would have been a big blow to the crypto industry. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a promotional message for Apex Legends Season 3: Meltdown! to be released in October. The game has a new character called “Crypto”, whose name refers to traditional cryptography and not to Satoshi’s whitepaper.
The EA studio is famous for games like FIFA, NHL and Titanfall, and the message has sparked hope among the community. Major crypto-Twitter players such as Binance, OkCoin, Lolli and Bitcoin Magazine immediately jumped to what appeared to be a cryptocurrency promotion message.
Most crypto-enthusiasts who saw the message believed that EA would be involved in one way or another in the crypto market. It is understandable that it was a severe disappointment in the end – the company has no plans to do so. But their inventiveness is appreciated when it comes to viral marketing campaigns.
