EVGA accepts returns of Geforce GTX 970

The story of the segmented memory in the Geforce GTX 970 is far from over. Many people are disappointed with the discovery that the graphics card cannot really use the entire video memory in full, but divides the memory into two sections of 3.5 and 0.5 GB, where the smaller part is significantly slower than the rest. Therefore, the question is also raised about the possibility of returning the graphics card or at least requesting some form of compensation.

In a mailing that SweClockers has received, EVGA informs Swedish dealers that they are prepared to accept repurchases of Geforce GTX 970 from “angry customers”, ie give the money back. At the same time, it is emphasized that what has now been discovered about the memory configuration is not a defect but a design decision that in some specific cases can cause a loss of performance of a modest three percent.

Swedish and European legislation gives consumers the right to return goods that do not correspond to the description. In the case of the Geforce GTX 970, this applies to the number of raster units and the amount of L2 cache, specifications that Nvidia does not state on its own website, but which are nevertheless stated in many reviews and at some retailers.
