EVGA presents the Geforce GTX 980 Ti for virtual reality

The Oculus Rift is now available to pre-book and the competitor HTC Vive is up and running in the spring. It is therefore high time for speculators to upgrade their systems to meet the sky-high system requirements, which in addition to performance make demands on the range of connections.

During the CES show, EVGA presents the Geforce GTX 980 Ti VR Edition, which, as the name suggests, is intended for VR purposes. In addition to the graphics card, the package comes with a 5.25-inch panel that is mounted in the front of the computer. On this is an HDMI 2.0, which is connected directly to the graphics card, and two USB 3.0, which is connected to the motherboard.

It is worth mentioning that EVGA’s solution only to some extent matches the recommendations for the Oculus Rift. In addition to two USB 3.0s for the headset itself, two more USBs are recommended, one for an Xbox One game controller and the other for the future Touch player.

The graphics card must be delivered with Nvidia’s reference frequencies 1,000/1,075 MHz at base/boost for the 2,816 CUDA cores and 7,012 MHz for its 6 GB GDDR5 video memory. When the model will be available for sale is not yet known.
