Gazprom produced the first LNG at a plant in the Leningrad region

MOSCOW, 6 Sep — PRIME. Gazprom has produced the first liquefied natural gas at a plant near the Portovaya compressor station (CS) in the Vyborgsky District of the Leningrad Region, Vitaly Markelov, the company’s deputy chairman, said.

“The LNG production plant at the Portovaya compressor station … today there are two production lines … About 30,000 tons of LNG have been produced,” he said at the Eastern Economic Forum.

In addition, 72-hour complex tests were carried out at the plant on Monday, Markelov added. And, according to him, one tanker is already moored near the plant, and another is expected in the near future.

Based on the planned indicators, this enterprise will become the most powerful in terms of gas processing in Russia and the largest in terms of LNG production in the region of North-West Europe. The complex will have to annually process 45 billion cubic meters of gas, produce 13 million tons of LNG, up to 3.8 million tons of ethane fraction, up to 2.4 million tons of LPG and 0.2 million tons of pentane-hexane fraction. The natural gas remaining after processing (about 19 billion cubic meters) will be sent to Gazprom’s gas transmission system.

The raw material for the enterprise should be ethane-containing natural gas produced by Gazprom from the Achimov and Valanginian deposits of the fields in the Nadym-Pur-Tazovsky region.
