At the end of February, Nvidia launched the monster model Geforce GTX Titan with the world’s most expensive graphics processor GK110, which contains as many as 7.1 billion transistors. Not entirely unexpectedly, this is not a cheap story – the model currently costs close to SEK 9,000 including VAT.
Anyone who is not prepared to shell out the money for the Geforce GTX Titan can, however, get another option. At the beginning of March, SweClockers reported that a slimmed-down model is approaching and now there is another sign that such a graphics card is in the works.
The developers behind the information tools Hwinfo32 and 64 announce in the change log that the latest trial version adds support for a GK110-based graphics card called GeForce GTX Titan LE, which suggests a scaled-down model for a lower price range.
No exact specifications are revealed, but according to SweClocker’s previous data, it is 2,496 CUDA cores, 320-bit memory bus and 5 GB of GDDR5 memory. It can be compared to 2,688 CUDA cores, 384-bit memory bus and 6 GB of GDDR5 memory in the Geforce GTX Titan.
The launch is expected to take place sometime in the third quarter of the year, possibly in July or August.
