Intel is in the process of launching its first standalone graphics cards in over 23 years in the form of Xe-HPG. There are today scattered bursts around the performance of the company’s first graphics card, but there is information that the top model in the series may correspond to the Geforce RTX 3070 or even the heated variant RX 3070 Ti.
An update on Linkedin states that Intel is hiring Anton Kaplanyan to the Accelerated Computing Systems and Graphics (AXG) division, where Kaplanyan will be Vice President of Graphics Research. Kaplanyan most recently came from Nvidia, where he worked on the company’s AI upscaling technology DLSS and functions for ray tracing, such as noise reduction.
Before Nvidia, Kaplanyan worked on Facebook with artificial intelligence and on Crytek with the development of the game engine Cryengine. Intel’s acquisition of Kaplanyan indicates that they want to invest additional resources in what is rumored to be the company’s DLSS equivalent, Xe Super-Sampling (XESS) and features for ray tracing.
