Intel will hold graphics events in December

At the end of 2017, it was clear that AMD’s then graphics manager Raja Koduri decided to leave the company. Shortly afterwards, the competitor Intel announced that they had hired Koduri, which became responsible for a new department at the company with the task of developing both integrated and full-scale graphics circuits for graphics cards.

Via Digitimes, information emerges that Intel plans to hold an event in December, where they will talk about their investment in graphics circuits. Among the participants are Raja Koduri and several high-ranking managers who will talk about how the work is going and what plans they have for the future.

Very little is known about Intel’s graphics circuits, apart from code names for the Arctic Sound and Jupiter Sound architectures. First out will be Arctic Sound in 2020, and according to Intel’s plans, production of 10 nanometers will be functional until then, which makes it a candidate for the graphics circuits.

Arctic Sound and Jupiter Sound will be Intel’s third attempt when it comes to dedicated graphics cards. The first was the i740 model, which was released in 1998, but due to low demand, the latter was turned into an integrated graphics part in the company’s processors. This was followed by the Larrabee architecture, which was closed down before it had time to launch sharply.

It has already been confirmed that the first graphics card will be released in 2020 and it and others will receive support for VESA Adaptive Sync. The company has also said that they will release products in all segments, with graphics cards for everything from artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to workstations and games. What will be the first on the market, however, is still unknown.
