MOSCOW, 20 Sep — PRIME. Saudi Arabia regained the lead in oil exports to China, increasing it by 22% in August compared to July, to 8.48 million tons, and by 5% in annual terms, Reuters reported, citing data from Chinese customs.
Russia moved to second place in this indicator. Export of oil from Russia increased in August to 8.34 million tons from 7.14 million a month earlier. In annual terms, the indicator increased by 28%.
As for Russia, the agency notes that the figure has risen as Chinese refineries increased their purchases of this oil at a discount.
The third country in terms of oil supplies to China was Iraq – 4.32 million tons (a decrease of 26% compared to last year). Angola was fourth in terms of imports (2.2 million tons, a decrease of 33.8%), and Brazil was fifth, whose deliveries in annual terms fell by 46.9%, to 1.88 million tons.
Imports from Malaysia rose 92.7% year-on-year to 3.37 million tons. Imports from Oman decreased by 16.2%, to 2.75 million tons, from the UAE, on the contrary, increased by 47.7% in annual terms, to 3.8 million tons.
The agency also reported that oil supplies to China from such large oil-producing countries as the United States, Iran or Venezuela were equal to zero in August.
