MtGox Exchange Lender Applications Review Period Extended Until End of March

The deadline for considering applications from creditors of the MtGox cryptocurrency exchange has been extended once again – due to the large number of problematic requests, the date had to be moved to March 31, 2020.

This was announced by the trust manager of the exchange Nobuaki Kobayashi (Nobuaki Kobayashi) October 28, the day before the expiration of the previously designated period. The decision to postpone the civil rehabilitation plan was made by the Tokyo District Court on October 25.

“The lion’s share of applications for reimbursement of funds, which I have fully or partially challenged, are still awaiting a decision as part of the requirements assessment procedure. In this regard, it is not possible to submit the plan within the time periods indicated earlier, so it was decided to file a petition with the Tokyo District Court to postpone the date of submission of the civil rehabilitation plan, ”Kobayashi said.

Earlier this month, it became known that Kobayashi turned to the US Department of Justice for information on the alleged BTC-e exchange operator Alexander Vinnik. At that time, information appeared that, as of September 30, 2019, MtGox had 141,686 BTC in its account. Kobayashi continues to investigate the search for additional assets.
