Nvidia “Ampere” and Geforce RTX 3000 series will be released in the first half of 2020

In September 2018, Nvidia launched the graphics architecture Turing and with it the graphics card family Geforce RTX 2000. Ray tracing was the big parade number with the architecture manufactured on TSMC’s 12-nanometer technology. It is already known that the subsequent architecture Ampere will be launched sometime in 2020 and new information indicates that it will take place during the first half of the year.

The report comes from Igor Wallossek at German Igor’s Lab. Known information about what Ampere will add is sparse, where the only concrete information available is that at least one of the graphics circuits will be manufactured on Samsung’s 7-nanometer technology.

A transition to 7 nanometers is expected to allow Nvidia to develop the capacity of the Ampere architecture ray tracing, while increasing transistor density makes it possible to improve the price-performance ratio of the cards compared to the current architecture Turing in the RTX 2000 series.

According to Igor´s Lab’s information, Ampere will be introduced in the middle class and that Nvidia will expand the architecture to larger and more difficult-to-manufacture circuits over time. It is worth mentioning that rumors in front of previous generations have spoken of the same thing and that Nvidia has these times surprised by introducing a large circle.

During the same period, AMD is expected to release the Radeon DNA (RDNA) architecture in a higher performance version than today’s Radeon RX 5700 XT and RX 5700.
