Nvidia broadcasts live from GPU Technology Conference 2019

In the autumn of 2018, Nvidia launched the architecture Turing with the Geforce RTX series, with built-in hardware for machine learning and not least ray tracing. Unlike early rumors, Nvidia did not benefit from a new manufacturing technology with Turing, but a polished variant of 16 nanometers from TSMC called 12 nanometers.

On Monday evening, March 18, Nvidia will hold a live presentation from the GPU Technology Conference (GTC), where the focus is on machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI). It is not clear what is on the agenda for the live broadcast, but traditionally it has been an opportunity for Nvidia to give a first insight into future architectures.

Preliminary speculation says that Nvidia will provide information about the architecture after Turing, which may be called Ampere, and then in the context of calculation cards in the Tesla and Quadro series. With the exception of Volta, which only became a computing card, all architectures have been released in time for consumers in the Geforce series.

Regardless of the name of the next architecture, it is almost guaranteed to be manufactured on TSMC’s latest 7-nanometer technology, which AMD uses with the Radeon VII and the upcoming Ryzen 3000 series. The new technology enables higher clock frequencies, energy efficiency and not least transistor density, all three important parameters for producing more high-performance graphics circuits.

The live broadcast will take place tonight, March 18 at 22:00 Swedish time and will be available on Nvidia’s official website.

What do you think is the name of the next architecture from Nvidia? Discuss in the comments!
