Nvidia confirms Geforce GTX 1080 Ti – users with GTX 980 Ti get priority

2016 has been the most eventful year on the graphics card front, with both AMD and Nvidia launching their new generations of fresh manufacturing technologies. Nvidia has been most active with the architecture Pascal, which is available for purchase from just over a thousand kroner in the form of the Geforce GTX 1050 up to a full SEK 13,000 for the Titan X.

Despite a wide price range, Nvidia is not finished this generation. At least one graphics card remains – Geforce GTX 1080 Ti, which will be placed between GTX 1080 and Titan X in terms of both price and performance. Previously, it has only been rumored about the model, but now it is confirmed by none other than the company itself.

In an application on Linkedin, Nvidia is looking for a marketing manager, who, among other things, will be responsible for a new reward program for Geforce Experience users. In addition to things like free games, early access to beta tests and all sorts of raffles, the benefits of the Geforce GTX 980 Ti are mentioned.

Users with the one-generation-old graphics card will be the first in line to pre-order the Geforce GTX 1080 Ti, or take part in a so-called “Step Up offer”. The latter is probably an upgrade program, where users get the opportunity to replace their GTX 980 Ti and buy GTX 1080 Ti at a reduced price.

In terms of specifications, it varies greatly between reports what applies to the Geforce GTX 1080 Ti. What is more or less given, however, is that, like the Titan X, it is based on the GP102 circuit, but probably with more suspended CUDA cores. This includes either a 320- or 384-bit memory bus with 10 or 12 GB GDDR5X.

Nvidia is expected to announce the Geforce GTX 1080 Ti during CES 2017, where the graphics giant will begin with a press conference on January 4 at 15:30 Swedish time.
