Nvidia is rumored to launch the next generation graphics card with the architecture Turing in July

This week, Nvidia’s graphics card Geforce GTX 1080 turned two years old – a card that was the first to take the Pascal architecture to the consumer market. During the year, the company is expected to introduce a new generation of game-oriented graphics cards, and there has long been speculation about whether Nvidia intends to use the already launched architecture Volta or one of the newly cast variants Ampere or Turing.

According to anonymous industry sources who spoke with Tom’s Hardware, the new graphics cards may be launched somewhat earlier than expected. These claim that the replacement for the Geforce GTX 1080 will be launched sometime in July and that it is the architecture Turing that will be used for the new set of graphics cards.

As usual, this will be Nvidia’s own reference variant “Founder’s Edition” at the time of launch, while the partner manufacturers’ cards are expected to be delayed until late summer. The name of the new graphics card is still obscure, but previous information indicates that it is a logical step up in the series of figures, ie Geforce GTX 1180.

While summer launches for graphics hardware are not entirely uncommon, these are historically reserved for lower model series in the style of the Geforce GTX 1060. With that said, however, the classic product cycles with launches in the spring and fall have been increasingly disrupted in recent years, such as AMD’s summer rollout of the Radeon RX Vega is a receipt for.
