Nvidia Releases Full Specifications For Geforce GTX 1070

It was not long after the launch of the Geforce GTX 1080 before more details about the lower-performing sibling GTX 1070 found out on the web. Now the data is supplemented by none other than Nvidia itself, which lists the specifications in full on the official website.

The higher recommended prices for the Geforce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 apply to Nvidia’s reference design Founder’s Edition. Models from partner manufacturers start at the lower price point.

First of all, it appears that the number of CUDA cores has been scaled down to 1,920 pieces – three quarters of a GTX 1080. This is accompanied by 1,506 MHz at base and 1,683 MHz at boost, giving a theoretical computing power of 6,463 GFLOPS or about 6 , 5 TFLOPS previously announced by Nvidia.

Another thing that distinguishes the GTX 1070 from the GTX 1080 is that instead of 8 GB GDDR5X it gets 8 GB GDDR5, but it will have a record frequency for the standard. With a clock frequency of 2,000 MHz (8,000 MHz efficient) and a 256-bit wide bus, the model gets a theoretical bandwidth of 256 GB / s.

In terms of performance, Nvidia has previously said that the Geforce GTX 1070 will be able to overtake the previous flagship GTX Titan X at a much lower price. Whether this is true remains to be seen, but according to Nvidia’s own figures, graphics cards perform about 70-80 percent better than a GTX 970. This can be compared to SweClocker’s performance index, where GTX Titan X depending on resolution is 54-67 percent above a GTX 970.

The reference model “Founder’s Edition” will cost SEK 4,999 including VAT in Sweden, while models with customized circuit boards and coolers from Nvidia’s partners are believed to be closer to the SEK 4,000 mark. The sharp launch will take place on June 10.
