Nvidia’s CEO bakes great work with Ampere

On Thursday, May 14, Nvidia’s event GTC 2020 kicks off. The event, which this year has been delayed and is being held digitally due to COVID-19, focuses on professional graphics and can also give a taste of upcoming graphic architectures. Before this year’s edition, the latter is expected to happen when the architecture Ampere is on the doorstep, and now the company’s CEO shows that the news will be big.

In a short video sequence, Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang shows in his home at full speed to pick out technical masterpieces from the oven. In the video, he mentions that the technology has been around for a long time, and that it is the world’s largest graphics card. What is meant is the supercomputer system DGX A100 where eight Ampere-based graphics cards take place, where the name is probably based on the high-performance graphics circuit GA100.

This is the latest solution in the DGX family, which focuses on calculations related to machine learning and artificial intelligence, in formats small enough to be used in workstations. As the DGX A100 replaces products with the previous Volta and Pascal architectures, Nvidia’s proposal can be seen as a sign that the company is using the solution to demonstrate the new capacity Ampere houses.

As GTC 2020 focuses on professional graphics, it is unclear whether tomorrow’s event will also offer news about Ampere for consumers in the form of the Geforce RTX 3000 series. Those who are waiting will see and on 14 May at 15:00 Swedish time, Nvidia will show what this year’s edition has to offer this year.

How do you feel before the event? Are you disappointed if the Geforce RTX 3000 series is not uncovered or are you content with technical details about the Ampere architecture?
