In connection with major game releases, AMD and Nvidia usually release drivers with specific optimizations. In Nvidia’s case, these are called “Game Ready for …” and are usually available through the company’s official website. However, this obviousness will change.
As of December, the latest updates will only be available for download via Nvidia’s software suite Geforce Experience. For those who for one reason or another do not want the software installed will still be able to download drivers through the company’s website, however, these will only be updated once a quarter.
Criticism of Nvidia’s controversial decision has not been delayed, but has created outcry among devoted gamers who in practice are forced to use Geforce Experience. The graphics giant, for its part, justifies the decision by saying that 90 percent of all updates already take place via the software.
