Nvidia’s reference card in the Geforce RTX 2000 series comes with an updated cooler

The sequels to Nvidia’s Pascal-based consumer graphics card have now been officially unveiled, and these are three models in the Geforce RTX family where the top model is the Geforce RTX 2080 Ti. The new graphics architecture is called Turing and offers support for Nvidia’s technology for ray tracing in real time.

It’s not just the performance that sees a boost, but the same goes for the cooling solution used for the graphics cards that can be purchased in Nvidia’s online store. The reference cards have used a cooler equipped with a radial fan, but in line with previous information, this construction is now being replaced with a variant with two axial fans.

During the live launch event, it was confirmed that the Geforce RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2080 and RTX 2070 in reference version will be equipped with the new radiator. The TDP value for the three models ranges between 175 and 260 watts and judging by the pictures, it is about the same cooler for the trio.

The Turing-based graphics cards are said to be suitable for overclocking and the reference cooler should, at maximum load, amount to one-fifth of the ditto sound level for the Geforce GTX 1080 Ti. The fans are accompanied by an upgraded steam chamber with an associated heat sink.

Nvidia refers to the reference cards as “Founders Edition” and these can now be pre-booked through the company’s website, and will then be available on 20 September. In terms of price, Geforce RTX 2070, RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti are listed for 6,899, 9,199 and 13,999, respectively, in the company’s Swedish online store.
