Packing orders in X-Kom has entered a new level. When you buy in a store, you care about the environment

The X-Kom store, well-known in Poland, boasted a unique machine that came straight from the Netherlands. I am talking about the CVP Everest machine, thanks to which the packaging of orders in X-Kom has entered a new level, both in terms of logistics and environmental protection.

Cheaper, faster, more efficient, i.e. packing orders in X-Kom using CVP Everest

Usually, orders from the network are packed in cardboard boxes with foam or plastic fillers of voids, ensuring that the purchase reaches us in full. Often, recycled paper or cardboard “shavings” are used for this purpose, but anyway, it has a significant impact on our environment. X-Kom decided to change this and by using CVP Everest not only saves cardboard, but also abandons the requirement to use additional filling.

The CVP Everest is not just a packing machine, but a huge automatic machinery with tapes and robotic arms, in which a 3D scanner plays a key role. This provides the system with accurate information about the shipment, on the basis of which the machine first cuts the sheet of cardboard and then automatically bends it so that it perfectly fits the ordered goods, regardless of the number of components in the order.

The use of this machine by X-Kom is expected to reduce cardboard consumption by up to 30 percent and accelerate the packaging process, as the CVP Everest handles up to 1,100 parcels per hour. This is both a budget and emission saving, because better packed orders mean that the couriers receiving them will be able to fit more of them in their vans.

To [oszczedność spowodowana CVP Everest] translates into several hectares of protected forest. And remember that one tree absorbs up to 7 kilograms of carbon dioxide per year. This means that x-kom will contribute to the reduction of over 30 tons of CO2 per year

– said Kamil Szwarbuła – the press spokesman of the x-kom

CVP Everest will be responsible for packing 85% of orders, while the remaining 15% (10% comes down to SD cards or flash drives, and 5% of large-size equipment) will still be prepared by employees.
