Radeon RX Vega is released in three variants – the top model gets pre-assembled water cooling

After talking about its upcoming Vega architecture for a long time, AMD announced that it will be released in the first half of 2017, a promise they kept with the launch of the Radeon Vega Frontier Edition. However, the Radeon RX Vega intended for gaming did not appear and will instead be launched later in the year.

Videocardz now reports that the Radeon RX Vega for games will be released in three different variants that so far go under the working names RX Vega XTX, Vega XT and Vega XL. That exactly three models are mentioned is consistent with previous information, where the names Core, Eclipse and Nova are mentioned.

The former is said to use the graphics circuit Vega 10 GLXTX, which is the same as used in the Radeon Vega Frontier Edition. The model also only comes in a version with pre-assembled water cooling and 8 GB HBM2 memory.

For the RX Vega XT, it is a basically identical model, which is instead equipped with an air cooler and has a slightly lower TDP value of 285 W. The Radeon RX Vega XL is also equipped with an air cooler, but comes with a slightly scaled-down graphics circuit with 3584 streaming processors. This also only comes in models from AMD’s partner manufacturers.

So far, this is unconfirmed information and the official unveiling will not take place until the end of July, when AMD launches RX Vega for gaming at the Siggraph graphics conference, which runs from July 30 to August 3.
