Rostec will oversee the development of the blockchain in Russia

In accordance with the new agreement of the Government of the Russian Federation and Rostec, the state corporation will oversee the development of the blockchain in the country.

The agreement was signed in the Kremlin on July 10 with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. From the government’s side, the document was signed by the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Maxim Akimov.

The signing of the agreement was a consequence of the order given by the president at the end of May following a discussion regarding the development of technologies in the field of artificial intelligence. Then at the meeting Akimov singled out thirteen high-tech areas that need accelerated development.

In addition to the blockchain, Rostec will be in charge of the development of other areas: quantum sensors, new generations of narrow-band wireless communications for the Internet of things, short-range and medium-range communications, and the introduction of 5G. Deputy Head of Rostec, Alexander Nazarov, who signed the agreement on the part of the state corporation, said:

“The development and introduction of advanced digital technologies is the key to Russia’s competitiveness in the global market. Together with the state, developers, manufacturers and the investment community, practical steps will be determined, the result of which will be the widespread introduction of these technologies into the life of the country. ”

In accordance with the agreement, Rostec should develop and submit to the government a detailed plan for the development of the areas entrusted to it. Within the framework of the roadmap, the projects necessary for the development of digital technologies should be indicated, and obligations for investments in them by market participants should be presented.

In May, the state corporation Rostec proposed
transfer state information systems to the blockchain. According to preliminary calculations, this will cost 55–85 billion rubles.

Recall also that at the beginning of this week the State Duma passed
hearing about the development of the digital economy. At the July 8 meeting, participants discussed a digital signature, electronic workbooks, the development of digital technologies, and regulatory issues.
