Samsung Blockchain phone: The latest news from Samsung, the South Korean cell phone manufacturing giant, has surprised the crypto community: the company will unveil its new next-generation smartphone Samsung Galaxy S10.
Last month, Samsung revealed its plans to launch a blockchain smartphone . The company confirmed it would announce the Galaxy S10 on February 20 at its annual Samsung Unpacked event.
The smartphone has not yet been released to the public, but some of its features are known. For example, the screenshot from the source for this loss has a converted height-to-width ratio of 2283 pixels by 1080 pixels. The device will be equipped with two front cameras.

The Galaxy S10 is speculated to feature a 6.1-inch curved OLED display, an in-display fingerprint sensor, the Exynos 9820 processor (global), Snapdragon 855 for North America, and 128GB or 512GB of memory internal.
The main feature of Samsung’s new model is Samsung Blockchain KeyStore which appears to be a blockchain wallet. The wallet can act as a “safe and convenient place for your cryptocurrency” and allow users to have full control over their private keys and crypto funds. Furthermore, users are able to create a new wallet from scratch.
The system runs on the blockchain with the cryptocurrencies that Samsung decides to support – at this point it is limited. As the pictures show, the Keychain Blockchain currently only lists Ethereum as a supported cryptocurrency.
On Twitter, concept designer Ben Geskin showed the image of the device.
As for Bitcoin, digital currency number one, the bitcoin part is also suggested in the iconography of the system. According to the SamMobile report, Samsung’s blockchain wallet is also expected to support the Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum-derived ERC20 token at launch.
The S10 features an updated camera system that offers “advanced intelligence”, the ability to charge other phones wirelessly, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage (on the base model) and a host of other features, according to the version.
Further details on the Knox solution were not immediately available and Samsung did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
However, the S10 joins a growing line of smartphones designed with cryptocurrencies in mind, including HTC EXODUS 1 and Sirin Labs’ Finney , both announced last year. However, Samsung is the largest phone maker to reveal blockchain functionality in a phone to date, and unlike both of its competitors, it could see wider distribution.
The Galaxy is Samsung’s flagship line, with four different devices falling under the S10 umbrella intended to fill the largest possible market.
Previously, the new device was supposed to be a Galaxy S10 + prototype thanks to the double-punch camera, but a sticker covered most of the screen. Hours later, more images surfaced on Twitter, showing the alleged Galaxy S10 phone. A BGR tech reporter Chris Smith explained:
“We know this is a Galaxy S10 phone because the punch-hole camera is placed near the top right corner. The A8 selfie cam is on the left side. Also, we know it’s a Galaxy S10 phone rather than a Galaxy S10 + model because it features a single lens selfie camera. It is clear that the laptop is not the Lite version, because the screen has curved rather than flat edges. “
Furthermore, he wrote:
“Finally, as you can see in these pictures, the phone has tiny bezels at the top and bottom, and even thinner side bezels.”
Samsung will not have access to any of the data in the Blockchain KeyStore app, which could be a cold wallet. The main way to recover data is with the 12 to 24 word recovery phrase. Linked to Biometrics and Security in Device Settings, the app also features a secondary level of authentication which includes PIN and fingerprint.
Users will be able to set the private key and authenticate via biometric options such as the in-display fingerprint scanner (which has already been confirmed), PIN, password, etc. This feature will ensure safety and security.
The expected price for such a phone could fetch at least 799 Euros (~ $ 1.009) at launch. On February 20, the company will hold an Unpacked event in San Francisco, and more information on the next generation smartphone will be available.
