Anyone looking forward to a new battle on the graphics card front will have to persevere for a while longer. Although Nvidia will launch the Geforce GTX 980 Ti as early as the beginning of next week, it is now clear that AMD will choose to wait and introduce the next generation Radeon at a later time.
Although several of AMD’s major partner manufacturers are based in Taiwan, they will not be allowed to introduce any new graphics cards in the Radeon 300 series at the Computex Taipei computer show, which begins on June 1.
Although the manufacturers hoped to show at least a single model, it is now a “definitive stop” for all kinds of presentations, sources tell SweClockers. Instead, the launch will take place a couple of weeks later at a special event in connection with the gaming fair E3 2015.
The event in question is called the PC Gaming Show and will be held on June 16 at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles. Participants include Arenanet, Blizzard, Bohemia, CCP Games, Cloud Imperium, Creative Assembly, Paradox and Square Enix. The fact that AMD exclusively gathers game developers suggests that the emphasis is not on technical details in the hardware but rather on the possibilities in games.
