The expert told how to find out that you have been blacklisted

MOSCOW, 20 Sep — PRIME. If a user suspects that his phone has been blacklisted by another subscriber, then there are a number of signs by which it will be easy to determine whether this is really the case, Alexander, head of the research, cyberanalytics and development service at T1 Group, told Prime. Novikov.

When blocking a subscriber in the voice communication settings by phone number, a contact from the “black list” will be able to make a call attempt, he noted. However, every time you try to dial, you will hear “anomalous beeps” – either too short or too fast. If this situation continues for several calls in a row, then most likely you have been blocked.

If you constantly call the subscriber and hear the voice notification of the mobile operator “Subscriber is busy”, or “the device is out of range”, then this also means that you are on the “black list”.

“In this case, SMS messages will be sent, but will not be delivered,” the expert emphasized.

If in doubt, you can simply call this subscriber from another number to compare the differences. If in this case they answer you, there will be no doubt that your number is blocked.

BLOCKING IN MESSENGERS

Messengers also react differently to blocking a subscriber by phone number, Novikov noted.

So, in WhatsApp, messages will be delivered to the addressee, but when you try to get through, the call will spontaneously end. In Telegram, even when blocking a subscriber by phone number, you can easily make a call to the user who blocked you and send him a message. If you call the addressee who blocked you in the Viber messenger, the call will be interrupted, but the subscriber will see information about the missed call. At the same time, test messages can be sent, they will be delivered without hindrance, the expert noted.

All three of the most popular messengers in Russia – WhatsApp, Telegram and Viber – also allow you to block a subscriber, and the scenarios for blocking directly in the application are the same for everyone, Novikov added.

So, the subscriber will be able to make an attempt to call the person who added him to the black list, but the call will be terminated. When sending a message to the user who blocked you, the message will not be delivered, one gray checkmark will appear next to the message, which means that the message reached the messenger server, but was not sent from there to the recipient, he explained.

“After blocking, profile data will immediately become inaccessible: the blocked one will no longer see the contact’s profile photo, status, last visit. However, all information received before blocking, including correspondence and files, will still be visible,” the expert summed up.
